Splendor on the Beach

SPLENDOR

on the

BEACH

So you want clean and modern with no worries?

DONE.

Everyone deserves a little Splendor

We’re Sandy and David… and we are thrilled you are here!  To be honest, we’re not pro’s when it comes to owning a vacation rental.  But like you, we’ve rented a lot of them.  So when the opportunity came along, we decided that we would do it differently – or we wouldn’t do it at all.

Attention to Every Detail

All new floors, paint, granite, and appliances were obvious updates.  Less obvious were the updated décor, all new ceiling fans, extra-large smart TV’s in every room, and ultra-modern baths with lighted mirrors, dual shower heads, and waterfall faucets.   And don’t forget to check out the Adventure Locker and the game cabinet while you are here!

So, what exactly is Splendor on the Beach?

We are a combination of three different units at the beautiful Grand Atlantic Resort in Myrtle Beach. What makes these units different? Our attention to detail, and our absolute commitment to updating the units every year. Yep, you heard that right. We’ve stayed at enough condos and hotels that looked (and dare we say, smelled) nothing like their photos. We’re on a mission to change that.

Spend time in Splendor while soaking in the view from your fabulous 17th floor balcony… Enjoying the many indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, and lazy river… And taking advantage of everything Amazing Myrtle has to offer (more on that below).

Frequently Asked Questions about Splendor OTB

I don’t know much about Myrtle Beach
Well, then you should get to know it. Check out our section on Myrtle Beach below. We don’t live there…we just love it. And trust me, we have been to beaches all over Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and throughout the Caribbean. Myrtle has it all. Did you know it is named for the type of tree that grows there? Sorry. Rambling.
OK, so what is your favorite thing about Myrtle Beach?

Ahhh…  great question.  We have different opinions on this, so you’ll have to decide who is right.  Sandy says it is the beach itself – large enough to allow families to spread out, soft-but-firm enough for fun, waves big enough to play in, and the amazing collection of seashells that wash up (must be the currents?).  In fact, seashell collecting is a daily family activity there.  David says it is just the general vibe.  The crowds are more manageable.  There are so many quality restaurants that you can actually get a table without waiting a month.  Amusements are everywhere.  And then there is the view from the 17th floor… you could sit there for hours and soak it in.  (The truth is, Sandy’s first answer was “the ice cream”)

What do you have in the game cabinet?

Smart question – one less thing to pack, right? Our games include:

  • Apples to Apples
  • Jenga
  • Scrabble
  • Yahtzee
  • Barrel of Monkeys
  • Playing cards
  • Charades for Kids
  • Monopoly
  • Uno
  • Checkers
  • Farkel

Remember, Splendor on the Beach is built around the philosophy that we’re all in it together.  So please keep games clean and intact for our future guests.

Is there parking on site?
There is. You’ll get your passes when you register. You can leave the parking passes in your room when you leave, or just return them to the front desk when you leave.
How many pools are there?

If you count the Lazy River, there are five pools plus a large spa.  They include:

  • Outdoor pool
  • Outdoor children’s pool
  • Covered Lazy River
  • Covered pool
  • Covered children’s pool
  • Covered Spa
Are there picnic tables on the grounds?

Absolutely.  There are four family tables nestled perfectly on a grassy area just between the pools and the beach.  You can see a picture of them in our Grand Atlantic section.

What main attractions should we see/do while we are there?

Wow, that is a big one.   Myrtle Beach has more amusement parks, zip lines, ropes courses, and putt putt than any place we’ve ever seen.  And there’s not even a close second.   In addition to those, I would definitely recommend an evening at the famed Boardwalk – shopping, arcade, and restaurants.  Another must is an evening at Broadway at the Beach, which includes pretty much everything you could want — a large amusement park… Ripley’s Aquarium, shops, bands, and restaurants all built along a boardwalk surround a lake.  If you love Ferris wheels, MB has at least a couple of big ones.  And of course, there are beach shops galore.

All of this is just a few minutes from Splendor.

Where do I check in?
Check-in is easy-peasy. The Main Office for the Grand Atlantic resort is located on the ground level level of the building. There is temporary guest parking just as you pull into the facility.
What the heck is an Adventure Locker?
It’s just another thing that makes Splendor on the Beach… well… Splendid. If you are staying in either of the two large units (1701-2 or 1702), you’ll find a metal locker on the wall. Inside are some special items for you to use while you are staying with us, including walkie talkies so you can keep in touch with your kids or the rest of your group, tactical flashlights for those family walks on the beach at night, binoculars (keep them in the room please), and a really fun game called Tidal Ball. We only ask that you wipe everything off and return it to the cabinet when you leave. We want the next guests to have a Splendid time as well! People who own a lot of condos tell us we are crazy for having an Adventure Locker, but that’s exactly the reason we wanted to.

I’m in! How do I book?

It’s simple. If you want your own bit of Splendor, you’ll need to call the Grand Atlantic Resort office at 843-448-7032 and specifically ask for one of our three units:

1701-1 – A gorgeous luxury studio unit with a private sea view balcony, king bed, extra large smart TV, separate table for mealtime, large modern bathroom, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and ceiling fan. Immerse yourself in the cool, modern luxury of this unit… perfect for a couple or small family. Need more space? There is a connecting door, so it can also be booked with the spectacular 1701-2 for larger groups.

1701-2 – Wow… just wow. The size of this cool, modern, fresh beach condo is going to catch you by surprise. By itself, the unit boasts three perfectly appointed bedrooms, including a master with huge bathroom and its own balcony. Add the connecting 1701-1 as a second master (perfect if you have more than one couple) and this giant unit can handle 14 guests with its 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Granite counters, giant smart TV’s, lighted mirrors, double showerheads, fresh/modern furnishings… this place is stunning. But even with all of the inside Splendor, once you step foot on the extra wide balcony and take in the amazing view, you will never want to leave.

1702 – Just next door you’ll find the perfect companion to 1701. Boasting all of the same décor, and amenities, this three bedroom / 3 bath luxury condo has two king size beds, two doubles, a large sleeper sofa, and sleeps up to 10 guests. Not to mention the stunning 25’ balcony – plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own bit of Splendor.

Remember, to book you MUST ASK for units 1701-1, 1701-2, or 1702.

We don’t live in Myrtle Beach

(we just love it)

Actually, we live in the Atlanta area where it is equal distance to Myrtle and the Gulf.  We love both… but we prefer Myrtle.  It’s pretty simple, really.  The restaurants are better, and a LOT more plentiful – as are the amusement parks.  Crowds are smaller.  The famed boardwalk is a blast — especially at night.  The national parks, golf courses, sportsman activities and shopping are fantastic.

The beaches still have plenty of room for the kids to run and play and, unlike the Gulf, seashells are plentiful and foraging for them is a daily family activity.  We especially love the culture of nightly walks on the beach by flashlight.
We have found there is just SO MUCH MORE at Myrtle Beach.  And to be honest, the cost is SO MUCH LESS!  And did we mention there is no seaweed?  True story.

Remember, to book you must
call 843-448-7032 for reservations

And ask for units 1701 or 1702
